IT Support Engineer

As the IT Support Engineer you will be playing a vital role in the growth and operation of a growing telecommunications company. Responsible for the internal IT support, building servers and dev ops support, you will be a key player to their busy team. By joining at the start of a very fast paced and exciting growth phase of the business, you'll have lots to get stuck into.

Exeter based but mix of home/office working avaliable

They looking for someone who can:

  • Provide IT and system support - Field IT Helpdesk tickets
  • Work with the Development team and provide DevOps support where needed
  • Bare metal server configuration, maintenance & support
  • Work with key enterprise systems such as Microsoft Applications, Office 365 and Active Directory
  • Use a positive problem-solving attitude to resolve routine incidents and strive for first call resolution or appropriate escalation
  • Collect, organise and maintain a "problems and solutions" knowledge base that can be used by others
  • Manage configuration and maintenance changes
  • Manage and maintain system user accounts and permissions
  • Configure laptops for new users, support existing estate
  • Document all developments and configuration changes
  • Consult user guides, technical manuals and other documents to research and implement solutions
  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive register of all IT hardware and software assets
  • Update policies and procedures on regular basis and create new ones where necessary
  • Develop extensive functional and technical knowledge of operational systems and infrastructure and its underlying technology stack

The right person will:

  • Have experience with support of Windows and Microsoft Applications
  • Be able to effectively manage a busy varied workload

Have a keen eye for detail:

  • Have a basic understanding of Cyber Essentials requirements
  • Have a team player attitude and be able to deliver solutions to a variety of stakeholders

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Troubleshooting issues relating to Active Directory, Office 356 & Office Networking
  • Ticketing Systems (knowledge of Connectwise an advantage)
  • Web hosted Telephony configuration + 1st line support
  • Remote Desktop Control Applications
  • Supporting remote connectivity/VPN & LAN/WAN technologies
  • The ability to understand and respond to user requirements
  • Problem-solving and change management skills
  • 3+ years commercial experience in an IT support environment


  • AWS support
  • Dev Ops experience is key to this role
  • Understanding of Cyber Essentials requirements
