Software Test Analyst

Software QA Tester - £35,000 - £45,000

Location: Cheltenham

This is mainly a manual Testing role currently but will be moving into Test Automation in ther future so a perfect opportunity to get trained up with this dynamic and successful company. Any current automation experience is most welcome but not essential.

The Role

As a Software QA Tester, you'll possess strong knowledge and experience in test engineering and its best practices. You'll also understand the appropriate levels to test at and be able to demonstrate the ability to write high quality tests. We expect a QA Tester to possess strong communication skills and be comfortable coaching other testers.

The role requires proven experience testing web based applications, adhering to proven testing processes and a good understanding of automation would be desirable. The candidate must have a proven track record of working within an agile team, testing and delivering quality code.

Required skills / experience:

Commercial experience on complex applications, creating and maintaining Feature Test Plans and Regression Plans.

Experience ensuring full traceability from the initial requirements to the final testing.

Strong experience with relational databases, in particular MySQL/MariaDB.

Experience reviewing system requirements, providing feedback and influencing them.

Experience estimating testing activities and adhering to project timelines.

Experience and good understanding of testing techniques: automation, unit, integration, functionality, end-to-end, acceptance, performance, web service testing.

Very detailed. Able to troubleshoot problems and identify quickly the root cause of the problem.

Experience of systems integration technologies, including web services and APIs.

Good knowledge of all phases of the development lifecycle.

Good knowledge of web applications architecture.

Experience on continuous integration tools and processes.

Experience of Agile development methodologies - Scrum, Kanban.

Desirable skills / experience:

Experience of using and managing Jira and Confluence software.

Experience on automation tools.

Experience on specification by example, gherkin syntax and BDD.

Experience and good understanding of testing techniques: automation, unit, integration, functionality, end-to-end, acceptance, performance, web service testing
