Project Manager

Permanent

£50,000–£55,000

Southern Lights is partnering with a well-established organisation that’s known for looking after its people. They bring together talented individuals, give them room to grow and encourage them to develop their strengths. They aim to create a place where people feel supported, stay for the long haul and enjoy the work they do.

They also take a flexible approach to work. You’ll have the freedom to choose where you work best, while still staying connected with your team and contributing to shared goals.

We’re helping them find someone who can lead projects with confidence and pick up business analysis work where needed. It’s a full-time, permanent position, and most of your time will be spent steering projects, with some analytical responsibility built in.

The team works in a hybrid way, and they’re open to people based near any of their seven offices across the country.

What you’ll be doing

  • Leading projects through the full lifecycle using an Agile approach.
  • Setting clear scope, goals and deliverables with the relevant people.
  • Building and maintaining plans, timelines and budgets.
  • Spotting risks early, resolving issues and keeping work on track.
  • Managing budgets and making sure spending stays within agreed limits.
  • Keeping everyone informed so expectations stay aligned.
  • Managing changes carefully and avoiding unnecessary drift in scope.
  • Making sure outputs are accurate and well-checked.
  • Handing over to BAU teams smoothly, with the right documentation and guidance.
  • Gathering and analysing business requirements using a range of tools and techniques.
  • Making sure business cases cover reasons, options, benefits, risks, costs, timescales and how success will be measured.
  • Reviewing return on investment after delivery and reporting on outcomes.
  • Encouraging a supportive, collaborative team culture.
  • Taking initiative and keeping momentum across both analytical work and project delivery.
  • Contributing to process mapping.
  • Getting involved in wider business needs where helpful.

You’ll be a good fit if you have

  • Experience with Agile methods and established business analysis practices, ideally including some exposure to AI-related tools.
  • An understanding of IT systems, the software development lifecycle and structured project delivery.
  • Experience with process mapping.
  • A recognised project management qualification (such as PMP or Prince2) or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Practical experience as a business analyst on IT-focused projects.
  • Strong analytical ability and confidence working with more complex requirements and data.
  • Familiarity with modelling tools, requirements tools and data analysis tools.
  • Experience using AI tools within business analysis would be an advantage.
  • At least three years of project and change management experience.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work comfortably with people at all levels.
  • The ability to manage your own workload, work well with others and meet deadlines.
  • A business analysis certification (such as CBAP) or a framework like ITIL would be helpful but not essential.
